Yes, I would agree that your site is visually appealing. Looks great with the white text on black background (creating a simple yet elegant feel about your site). Also, like what you did with the Timeline; much easier to read.

I only have one question: I notice some text "hiding" underneath the "Browse Items link" at the top- what is that? You can see it on every page.

Overall, great job!

Your site looks excellent! The navigation is easy to comprehend and follow as well.

The only question I had while browsing through the site was on the "Timeline" page. Would it be useful for students and teachers to have an "About" section for the timeline that would explain the source for the different styles? Whenever we label things as historians I think it is generally a good idea to give viewers an understanding of whether these are your own definitions or come from some sort of history of architecture standards.

Then again, the teachers and students the site is designed for may already have been exposed to those things. Just a thought!

Overall, definitely like the style and usability of the site.

Some great insight and good comments! And I completely agree that I had the same reaction initially (that's why I laughed in lcass when you said it). But there is always room for improvement and more things to consider as we move forward with technology, modern life and its challenges, including reaching all walks of life.

I agree, last week has me thinking about my site in different ways. I am going to spend a lot more time concentrating on a design scheme and choosing the colors on their own, instead of just tweeking omeka until it looks nice. I have also decided to change the name of the project and concentrate on creating a unique logo. Basically, I have a better hold on how important pre-planning your design strategy is.

That makes a lot of sense. Great to have a lot of tools and knowledge, but smart not to overdo it. I think it's wise to have the images be the standout feature.
